In my post 5 Ways To Make Your Mornings Great, I stress the importance of eating breakfast before you leave for the day. Some people might count themselves sated with a bowl of cereal or a banana, but they shouldn’t! People who experience the mid-morning slump or get hunger pangs well before lunch have often eaten meals high in sugar, but low in healthy fats and protein. The perfect recipe for a sugar crash! So put down that cereal box, because I’ve got some great, easy breakfast recipes that’ll fill you up and keep you going.

Greek Yogurt Parfait

We’re not talking about the sugar-loaded options you’ll get from a breakfast café. Greek yogurt already has plenty of protein. Layer in fresh berries and some organic granola for a healthy, filling meal.

Southwest Turkey Breakfast Sandwich

Instead of sausage or bacon, try lean turkey deli meat in your breakfast sandwiches! Pair it with a whole wheat English muffin, a scrambled egg, salsa, and fresh avocado slices for a flavorful and healthy twist on the original.

Vegetable Omelet

Chop up some of your favorite veggies (like tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers) and throw them into the pan with your eggs. Add some Sriracha for a spicy kick, and serve with whole grain bread. Need some sweetness with your savory? Instead of cow’s milk, try lightly sweetened almond milk. Full of calcium and protein, it’ll boost your energy and keep you full till lunch.

Green Smoothies

You don’t need a Vitamix to make a great, green smoothie. Just combine strawberries, orange juice, fresh pineapple, and spinach in a blender and mix well. Mix it up – throw a banana in there, add some flax seeds, experiment! But don’t let the lack of a $600 blender prevent you from trying out these fabulously healthy breakfast concoctions. Just be sure to clean your blender pitcher thoroughly after each use!

So I’ve started you off with four healthy breakfast ideas – what are your morning favorites?
